The cause behind the partnership
A safe place to land for women and children escaping domestic and family violence, and for anyone facing homelessness. Open and dogged since 1977.

Jenny's Place is a Newcastle-area charity that has stood with women and children escaping domestic and family violence since 1977. Their work is the essential kind: crisis and transitional accommodation for families with nowhere else to go, Outreach casework that walks with women through the hardest chapters of their lives, and prevention and early-intervention support through their Domestic Violence Resource Centre.

Their vision is simple, and it is the reason we stand alongside them: to help prevent domestic and family violence, and to build healthier relationships through community education and awareness. Their message is one we carry with us: everyone deserves to be safe.

Jenny's Place is not a service we support. It is a community partner we truly believe in, with our time, our fundraising and our presence at the events that matter. In honour of Moses, Good Shepherd hosted Shining Together: Moses' Gala Dinner for Jenny's Place in Newcastle on Saturday 13 September 2025. The night raised over $30,000, brought together women with lived experience, live jazz from one of our own support workers on saxophone, and a Tongan cultural dance group. It is now an annual event, held each year in Moses' memory.

At that gala, our Managing Director Angelo Piccione announced the Pain to Purpose Run, a 1,680km endurance challenge from Newcastle to Beenleigh and back, taking place in 2027. Every kilometre raises funds and awareness for women and children affected by family and domestic violence, and every dollar supports Jenny's Place.

If you would like to walk beside them too, you can. Donate, volunteer, come to an event, share their work with someone who needs it. Small acts, done consistently by a community, are what keep a door like Jenny's Place open.
